Fly Fishing — Guided Trips & Adventures in the Southern Alps
Discover fly fishing with Guillaume Mary
For years, I’ve wanted to introduce you to the beautiful upper Ubaye Valley — a wild and preserved area, inaccessible by rafting but ideal for fly fishing.
Rod in hand, surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery, you move through a river home to a healthy population of wild brown trout.
The fishing I practise and guide in the Southern Alps is fly fishing — the elegant and immersive discipline made famous by the iconic film “A River Runs Through It.”
that requires technique, water reading, precision, and sensitivity.
In 2024, I officially qualified as a certified fly-fishing guide. Thanks to word of mouth, I’ve already had the pleasure of guiding some of you on fishing trips in the Ubaye Valley.
But 2026 marks a real milestone, with the official launch of this activity that has long been close to my heart.
Fly fishing can be practised from spring to autumn and is often seen as an elite sport, yet it’s accessible to everyone — from curious beginners to passionate anglers looking to improve.
It combines several techniques that I’ll be happy to teach you.
For the more adventurous, I also offer hiking fishing trips, canoe & fishing outings, packraft & fishing adventures, and excursions to the famous high mountain lakes of the Southern Alps.
Esprit Rivières is the name I chose to represent this new fly-fishing guiding activity in the Southern Alps.
I invite you to discover its world through the link below.
May the river bring you joy
Guillaume
