  • A Few Words from Your Guide…

My name is Guillaume Mary, a state-certified white-water guide and founder of Raft’Ubaye.
For nearly 25 years, I’ve lived to the rhythm of rivers — whether running rapids in rafting and kayaking, or walking upstream with a fly rod in hand.

Born on the Basque Coast, water played a central role in my youth.
In my early twenties, when I began guiding on rivers, I quickly realised it was possible to build a life around this passion and travel the world as a professional guide.
Since then, I’ve worked on rivers across the globe — from France to Spain, from Canada to Patagonia, including the legendary Futaleufú River (see photo above), as well as Chile, Argentina, Colombia and New Zealand.
In 2012, I chose to settle in the Ubaye Valley and created my own rafting base, Raft’Ubaye.

Today, throughout the season, I guide people who want to discover rafting in the Ubaye Valley, with a simple and natural approach, driven by the desire to share the joy and benefits of being on the water.
Each descent is designed as a unique experience: far from standardised trips, far from strict schedules, always focused on the pleasure of the river and the authenticity of the present moment.

At Raft’Ubaye, you raft with a passionate guide who pays attention to everyone, sharing knowledge, respecting the natural environment, and prioritising the quality of the experience — whether you come to gently discover the river or to enjoy more dynamic runs.

Beyond rafting, my journey also led me to become a fly-fishing guide.
A more contemplative practice that taught me to read the water differently and to develop a deeper, more sensitive connection with the river.

🌿 Whether fresh or saltwater, water has given me some of the greatest moments of my life. Today, I invite you to share a part of this world with me — with respect, pleasure and curiosity.
May the river bring you joy

    Guillaume
