The Ubaye — A Legendary Rafting River
Here, nature has been generous: mountain streams, canyons, forests, alpine lakes, high passes, peaks rising above 3,000 metres… and right in the middle flows a stunning river — the Ubaye.
A wild mountain torrent where nature is still beautifully preserved. A true playground for discovery and adventure.
The Ubaye is a living, free-flowing river, with no dams. It’s accessible yet playful, with classic Alpine scenery, rapids all along the route, narrow gorges, clear water, and hidden spots that I know well.
I often call it “the forgotten river”, yet it was once considered one of the most beautiful white-water rivers in Europe for rafting and kayaking — and often described as the finest rafting river in France.

My Rafting Trips
Depending on the season, rafting on the Ubaye attracts different types of visitors.
In spring, when the snow melts, the river is powerful and exciting — perfect for friends looking for big thrills.
In summer, as the water level settles into its seasonal flow, the river becomes extremely playful and ideal for families discovering rafting for the first time.
Below you’ll find the details and prices of my rafting trips, ranging from gentle discovery runs to adrenaline-filled adventures, as well as more unusual experiences such as riverside bivouacs, tipi nights, picnic descents, or even canoe & fishing trips.

An Eco-Camp by the River
Spring water, eco-toilets, locally sourced larch wood and handcrafted construction — here, the adventure begins in a place that respects nature.
Tucked into a conifer forest on the banks of the Ubaye River in Méolans-Revel, the small Raft’Ubaye base is much more than just a starting point. It’s an adventure eco-camp — simple, unusual and nature-focused — where people come not only to raft, but also to reconnect with the outdoors.
Located halfway between Serre-Ponçon Lake and Barcelonnette, the heart of the Ubaye Valley, the camp sits in a wild and peaceful setting perfect for escape.
Barcelonnette is only a 15-minute drive away, and Le Lauzet-Ubaye just 5 minutes.

When to Go Rafting on the Ubaye 😁
Adventure just minutes from Barcelonnette and Serre-Ponçon Lake
In the Ubaye Valley, rafting runs from spring to autumn — and each season has its own personality.
Spring: powerful white water, true Alpine atmosphere, guaranteed thrills (it can get pretty exciting!)
Summer: playful, accessible and refreshing runs (yes, it feels amazing when it’s hot)
Autumn: a calmer river, magical colours, perfect for a gentle discovery trip
In short: one river, three seasons, three different vibes…
but always the same smile at the finish 😁
